Good Friday & Easter Sunday

Good Friday Gathering
10am – Friday March 30th, 2018
128 Hughson St. N

Good Friday is a strange day because it doesn’t really feel that “Good.” It is really a day of Lament and reflecting on the sad journey that brought Jesus to the cross. This year, The Commons Good Friday Gathering is an interactive experience where we will be journeying through the Stations of the Cross using art installations, songs, and story telling. Everyone is welcome, even if “church” isn’t usually your thing.

FAMILIES: This is an inter-generational gathering but parents need to make their own choices about whether their kids are able to handle hearing the story of Jesus’ death. The art being used is more symbolic than literal, but their is still a weight to the images and stories.

Easter Sunday Potluck Supper
6pm – Sunday April 1st, 2018
128 Hughson St. N

At The Commons we like to celebrate Easter Sunday with a big Community Potluck. Easter is all about Life & Celebration, and the best way we know how to live into that is to feast together. No singing, no teaching, no tricks, just people coming together as a community to enjoy a meal together. Everyone is welcome (even if church isn’t your thing), just bring some food to share.

Wheel chair ramp behind the building at 128 Hughson St. N.

We have on site parking and lots of street parking

People of all ages and walks of life are welcome

Upcoming Gatherings

For all of January we will be thinking of our city as “Holy Ground.” We will be thinking back to why we live in Hamilton and how we have seen our city change. Some of those changes have been good and life giving and some of those changes have hurt people and pushed them further to the margins. As we look at our city we want to ask ourselves how Jesus might view these changes and how we can follow him better as we live in our local context.

Sunday Feb 4th at 6pm we will be having Potluck Supper while we talk about Lent and how we might enter into this spiritual season of reflection and fasting. If you don’t know anything about Lent that is OK, we are going to break it down together.

Our Feb & March Series is “Stations of the Cross.” For the Lent season we will be looking at Jesus’ path to the Cross and how that speaks into the world around us.

On Easter weekend we will have a Good Friday Gathering – March 30th at 10am, and a Easter Sunday Potluck – April 1st at 6pm.

LOCATION: Our worship gatherings happen 6pm on Sunday evenings at 128 Hughson St. N. in the Hooper Law Building.  We are right in the heart of downtown Hamilton, just one block north of Wilson St and one building south of Cannon St across from the Spice Factory.
